Dr. Greg Brunton

Dr. Greg Brunton has been an educator since 1996 and worked with schools in Florida until 2005 when he decided to move into the international arena. Greg has been an IB educator since 2005 and was Elementary School Principal at the K International School Tokyo, a full IB continuum school similar to WISS.

He joined WISS as the Primary School Principal in 2012. Greg holds bachelor degrees in Elementary Education and Public Administration, a Masters degree in K-8 Math and Science Education, and a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.

His dissertation focused on collaboration within intercultural professional learning communities. He is an Adjunct Professor at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, USA, teaching onsite and online classes on teacher supervision and data-based decision making.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. He also enjoys playing an extremely rare contra bass clarinet in the WISS Community Orchestra.

Myles D’Airelle Secondary Principal IBDP Mathematics Examiner Mr. D’Airelle was born in Leeds in the United Kingdom and has been teaching internationally since 1998 in Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine, and Germany. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree and Master’s degree at Aberdeen University and holds a second Master’s degree in Education from Framingham University. Mr. D’Airelle has worked across the whole IB continuum, having been a PYP, MYP and Diploma teacher, and has experienced first hand how students grow in a hands-on, inquiry-based learning community. Having been an Environments Leader for the MYP, Mr. D’Airelle has a deep commitment to sustainability and loves to lead students as they explore the natural world around them.

Lisa Ellery
Primary Principal

Ms. Lisa Ellery is an educator originally from Wales who began her career within multicultural schools in London over 25 years ago. After initially studying Engineering, she gained a Bachelor of Education Primary (Honours) at the University of Gloucestershire, UK. Lisa gained vast experience teaching within Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education; developing a passion and expertise for linguistics and language teaching. She worked as a School Improvement Advisor in the UK and has lived and worked internationally since 2003 within numerous contexts and countries across Asia. She moved with her family to Shanghai in 2011 and studied for a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and Management. Lisa is proud to be a WISS parent and to share her pedagogical expertise through rich inter-cultural dialogue and relationships at WISS.

Fiona Morris
Early Years Principal
IB Workshop Leader / IB Site Visiting Team Member

Originally from the UK, Fiona Morris has been working internationally since 2005, having worked extensively at schools in England. Fiona is a strong advocate of inquiry based learning, with many years experience as a teacher and administrator in the PYP. WISS is Fiona’s third IB school, having worked widely in Asia and Europe after leaving the UK to work with children around the world. Fiona has been Lead Teacher at the Prague British School, Junior School Coordinator at the International School of Ho Chi Minh City, and Early Years Coordinator at WISS from 2006 to 2009. Fiona holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.

Renee Gian
Director of Admissions and Marketing

Ms. Renee Gian has been an educator for nearly 20 years, teaching a variety of subjects throughout her career before becoming the Admissions Director of a large international school in Cairo. Originally from Buffalo, NY; Renee earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College and Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership for International Educators from the University of Northern Iowa. Renee began her career in international education in Alexandria, Egypt and then moved to Cairo where she spent 18 years before moving to Shanghai with her son. She enjoys working in dynamic, culturally diverse, and caring communities. So she is thrilled to be part of the WISS community especially during this very exciting time of growth.
